Student activity – enriching education through social projects

June 2, 2023

Being an activist at a university has many important advantages and can have a positive impact on the future. Socially active students play a significant role in the cultural development of the university. Students of the 4th year of the Ala-Too International University Kanyshay Egenbayeva and Bayastan Muzuraimov will tell us what advantages extracurricular activities give.

Kanyshay: Enactus occupies a special place in my life

“After enrolling in the university, I immediately went to student clubs such as Enactus, Fin Club, Music and Dance Club. After careful selection to the Enactus team, we were taught how to apply the acquired knowledge in practice. A year later, I became a project manager. Having successfully proved myself in all areas, I was appointed coordinator of the audit department, where I was responsible not only for the composition of the team, but also for reports within the team to the National Office.

Since I am an economist, I was part of the Fin Club – a club that organizes various intellectual events like Brain Ring, etc. This place is associated with a cozy home, where your like-minded people, your assistants are next to you. In this club, I created a great network for myself. We organized meetings where we helped each other on exams and just supported each other. After 2 years, I became the president of this club and led the team in organizing events.

Music and Dance clubs are a place where I can relax after a hard week. Sometimes came to play the piano to calm my soul. Looking back, I realize that my student life was very bright and eventful.”

Bayastan: I became the best participant of the “OSCE Model”, which was conducted by European international experts

“There was an IFES civic activity camp outside the university, organized with the support of USAID. We have delved into human rights, elections and anti-corruption efforts and learned how to properly convey the knowledge gained in the media. I was also the best participant in the “OSCE Model”, participating in briefings and interactive sessions on negotiations and diplomacy organized under the guidance of international experts from Europe. As a future diplomat, I think this is a great experience.

I participated in the “Model UN” several times, helping to organize events at the university. I also participated in charity events. In 2022, I flew to Europe under the Erasmus program and studied for six months. For four years, I showed myself in various extracurricular activities that armed me with practical and theoretical knowledge.”

Such university clubs promote the development of leadership skills, the expansion of a network of contacts, the manifestation of passions and interests and the development of teamwork skills.
